Sims Undertaker Snowboard 2023

Blurring the lines between park board and all-terrain charger, the skate-inspired Undertaker defies snowboard convention by delivering a playful buttery board in the park. Still, when you want to get out and about on the mountain, it transforms into the perfect ride-anything snowboard. Built around a state of the art blunt-tipped, flat-kick long nose twin shape, the Undertaker delivers outstanding float in the pow and the ability to blast through chop whilst still being playful, buttery and well balanced underfoot for unhindered park laps. The fact that everything from the contact points is centred on the board, whilst the blunt tip removes a lot of the excess weight from that longer nose, means that in real terms, the Undertaker is as close to being fully balanced tip to tail as it can be. This means that in terms of feel and manoeuvrability, it’s similar to an out and out park board, just a lot more versatile. That park inspired versatility is then carried through to the profile and sidecut. Utilising Sims’s Modi’ M’ Camber which combines rocker at the tips with camber zones under the feet and a flat section in the centre, the Undertaker delivers a hook free confidence-inspiring ride with the optimum balance of float and edge hold. In terms of sidecut, the combination of longer radii at the contact points with a tight radius in the centre ensures that when the board is running straight, i.e. on the run into a jump or rail, it’s going to track straight with little to no effort. However, when driving through a carve, the deeper section powers up and gives a responsive and lively ride.

Shape Overview: True Twin

The Undertaker’s classic blunt tip and tail twin profile are designed to reduce swing weight to an absolute minimum, creating a balanced overall ride giving the rider complete control of the board, and helping to stomp even the most technical of tricks. However, giving it a slightly longer nose gives you all the balance and control you need, but with increased all-terrain versatility. The Undertaker’s advanced sidecut combines longer radii at the tip and tail with a tight radius in the centre of the board. This combination ensures that when the board runs straight, i.e. on the run into a jump or rail, it tracks straight and feels stable and predictable. However, the deeper section between the feet powers up and gives a more dynamic carve when driving through a carve.

Profile: Modi “M” Camber

This advanced camber profile is a dynamic blend of both the M POP and Transform Cambers. Modi “M” Camber delivers outstanding feel and control at both slow and high speeds by combining a flat rocker section between the feet with a double camber under the bindings. It also gives a solid feel underfoot, so you know it’s not going to wash out on landings.

Construction

The Undertaker utilises some of the most advanced materials available to create a genuinely stunning high-performance snowboard when it comes to construction. Heading this up is the advanced Unitive Core. This core features tip-to-tail Light Poplar construction with wider bands of more rigid Standard Poplar running along the edges; this dual-density design offers increased control and stability at speed. To ensure that the Undertaker delivers the ultimate balance of freestyle feel and all-terrain versatility, its core is profiled with Sims’s Twin Wave Form. This innovative design creates thick and thin zones to the wood core beneath the feet for a focused drive, flex, and control. Now to give the board its more freestyle-focused feel, the structural layers are created from bi-ax glass. Fibres running at 0° and 90°, give the board a pressable jib and park feel. To add an extra level of pop, Sims also utilise their V2 carbon stringers. Adding carbon V beams that point outward from the stance pattern adds additional power to the tips while retaining a more freestyle-focussed flex between the bindings. Finally, to give an extra level of dampening and to protect the sidewalls from impacts, the Undertaker features Bubblegum Sidewalls. Utilising soft, flexible urethane for the sidewalls adds high performance dampening for jibs and jumping and increases durability.
